Al Mustafa Welfare Trust Pakistan, in collaboration with the Pakistan Girl Guides Association, has launched a nationwide tree plantation campaign as part of its Independence Day celebrations, adopting an innovative approach to marking Pakistan’s freedom.
As part of the initiative, 350 plants were distributed among female students of schools and colleges, with participants encouraged to turn the Independence Day celebration into a lasting contribution to a greener Pakistan.
The students pledged to plant the saplings in their home gardens, streets or other suitable locations and to take responsibility for their care and growth.
The ceremony also featured patriotic national songs and speeches by the students, adding a strong sense of national pride to the environmental initiative.
Officials and representatives of Al Mustafa Welfare Trust and the Pakistan Girl Guides Association also planted saplings themselves at the Al Mustafa head office, reinforcing the message that environmental protection requires practical participation from everyone.
Al Mustafa Welfare Trust was represented by Muhammad Nawaz Kharal, Head of Media and Public Relations; Ali Hashmi; Ambreen Shafiq; Rizwan Ansari; Tariq Hassan Bhatti; Aman Pasha; Badeel Akbar; Mubeen Awan; Nasir Iqbal; Amina Sawera; and Syed Faraz Shah.
The Pakistan Girl Guides Association was represented by Mrs Sarwat Hamid, Provincial Commissioner; Mrs Nadeema Zafar, Deputy Provincial Commissioner; and Mrs Andaleeb Sandhu.
The campaign carries the message “One Plant, One Life”, linking the spirit of Independence Day with environmental responsibility and the vision of a greener and healthier Pakistan.
Organisers said the initiative was intended not only to celebrate independence but also to encourage young people to take practical responsibility for protecting the environment and contributing to the country’s future.
The plantation drive reflects Al Mustafa Welfare Trust’s broader commitment to community welfare and sustainable development, while providing students with an opportunity to become active participants in creating a greener Pakistan.
